Emily Secord, Certified Financial Planner™
A lifelong love of learning led me to the financial industry. I was often found strategizing personal finance topics with friends and family and began reading and researching for these discussions. This led to months of studying to obtain my Securities license and later a degree in Economics from the University of Oregon.
I am an Oregonian, though I grew up in the Midwest, in Indiana and Michigan. I'm happily married to Ian (who spends a few days a week helping out at the office) & we have two young boys, Abraham and Owen, plus one energetic puppy named Apple, our rescue Goldendoodle. I enjoy getting to decompress with a good book, getting outdoors in good weather in our R-Pod, meeting new people, scuba diving in warm climates, catching up with friends, and playing cards/board games with my family.
Professional Highlights:
- Obtained Financial Industry licensing in 2011 (Series 7, Series 66) and Life, Health, and Variable Insurance licenses.
- Earned professional designations: CRPC®, Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor, and: CFP®, Certified Financial Planner™
- Established Bright Future Wealth Management in 2019 with Cetera Advisors, Inc. so I could focus on growing a team and better serving our clients with strategic decisions around their businesses and life goals to create positive, lasting impacts, while they focused on what's important to them - creating more time and memories with the important people in their lives.
Philosophy:
I believe helping people make smart financial decisions can positively impact their lives and create positive ripple effects for future generations. I thoroughly enjoy a good challenge, working through all possible scenarios to determine which pieces best fit a complex puzzle for my clients. As a Certified Financial Planner, it's of high importance to me to serve as a fiduciary and to create long-lasting relationships with clients and their families. Helping people and getting to celebrate life's journey together is one of my favorite parts of my role serving our clients.
Community:
Giving back to our community is a high priority for me. We get to "vote" on the kind of community we live in by volunteering, serving on boards, and taking care of the people around us. I want to be a part of ensuring we have a healthy, vibrant community for years to come.
